The Senior Signal Processing Engineer joins the Space team to develop discrimination algorithms that distinguish threats from decoys, debris, and clutter using EO/IR sensor data for space and missile defense missions. You will design signal processing pipelines including detection, feature extraction, image processing, and measurement generation while developing advanced decision logic to enhance classification performance. The role requires deep expertise in EO/IR sensor phenomenology, detection theory, and SNR analysis. You will build physics-based models, conduct Monte Carlo analysis, and perform hardware-in-the-loop testing to validate performance in contested environments. Key skills include algorithm development, coding for production environments, and pattern recognition. This position addresses the technical challenge of extracting signals from noise to provide space domain awareness and command and control for military partners.
Lead the development of discrimination algorithms to distinguish threats from decoys and debris using EO/IR sensor data.
Design and implement signal processing pipelines for detection, feature extraction, and image processing.
Develop and integrate advanced decision logic to improve classification performance in evolving threat environments.
Analyze and optimize algorithms for noise characteristics, SNR considerations, and environmental effects.
Build physics-based models and conduct Monte Carlo analysis and hardware-in-the-loop testing to validate performance.
Develop analysis tools to characterize algorithm performance under countermeasures and degraded sensing conditions.
Transition discrimination algorithms from prototypes to production code optimized for operational deployment.
Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership on signal processing approaches and best practices.
What we're looking for
Must possess and be able to maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
8+ years of experience designing, implementing, and testing signal processing algorithms for EO/IR sensors or similar modalities in aerospace or defense systems.
Proven expertise in EO/IR sensor phenomenology including noise characteristics, detection theory, SNR analysis, resolution limits, and environmental effects.
Strong proficiency in signal processing techniques including detection algorithms, filtering, and measurement generation from sensor data.
Proficiency in algorithm development and coding with demonstrated experience transitioning algorithms to production environments.
Experience with modeling, simulation, and testing workflows including physics-based modeling, Monte Carlo analysis, or hardware-in-the-loop environments.
Demonstrated technical leadership experience with the ability to mentor engineers and drive technical direction.
