Senior Satellite GNC Engineer

What you'll do

• Design and analyze algorithms for state estimation, attitude determination, control, and precise pointing.
• Write production C++ flight code to implement GNC algorithms directly on the satellite hardware.
• Develop onboard autonomy features including Fault Detection, Isolation, and Recovery (FDIR) for fleet safety.
• Create and validate 6-DOF time-domain simulations and Monte Carlo analyses to verify performance.
• Conduct hardware-in-the-loop testing and support component-level environmental testing in the lab.
• Develop momentum management strategies using reaction wheels and magnetic torquers.
• Analyze bulk telemetry data to build monitoring tools and improve pointing performance for the constellation.
• Operate GNC systems on orbit by resolving anomalies and supporting satellite maneuvers.

What we're looking for

• Must possess a PhD or a Master's degree with at least 5 years of quantitative field research experience.
• Must have experience developing guidance, navigation, and control algorithms for aerospace systems.
• Candidates must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as refugees or granted asylum.
• Ability to write production C++ flight code for satellite algorithms.
• Experience with discrete and continuous optimization methodologies and algorithms.
• Experience converting research studies into tangible real-world changes.
• Proficiency in developing GNC algorithms specifically for spacecraft.
• Export control laws and regulations, candidates.
