Senior Portfolio Development Manager
The Senior Portfolio Development Manager specializing in AI Security and Applications joins the M12 team to accelerate growth for startups securing AI models, platforms, and applications. This role involves building deep knowledge of portfolio companies' business models and technical roadmaps while translating their product goals into successful partnerships with Microsoft’s technology stack, including Azure AI, Copilot, and other advanced platforms. Day-to-day responsibilities include fostering relationships across internal engineering, research, and sales teams to align investments with strategic initiatives, experimenting with new programs to scale adoption, and serving as a trusted advisor to founders on agentic security, threat intelligence, and responsible AI practices. The role requires expertise in cybersecurity, business development, or venture capital, alongside familiarity with data governance, model evaluation, and security frameworks like MITRE Atlas or MIST to solve complex problems in the AI security space.
Develop deep knowledge of security portfolio companies' business models, technical roadmaps, and market positioning.
Translate startup product goals into successful partnerships with Microsoft’s technology stack and platforms.
Build internal relationships across Engineering, AI Research, Product, and Sales to align investments with strategic initiatives.
Experiment with new programs to scale adoption and accelerate portfolio company growth.
Evangelize M12’s Security for AI thesis internally and externally regarding emerging trends.
Partner with investors to assess the technical differentiation and strategic alignment of security startups.
Serve as a trusted advisor to founders on topics like agentic security, threat intelligence, and responsible AI.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Operations, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
4+ years of experience in partner management, sales, business development, product management, engineering, marketing, HR, or partner channel development in the technology industry.
4+ years of professional experience with exposure to security and AI technologies and/or the startup ecosystem (preferred).
Familiarity with data governance, model evaluation, and responsible AI principles (preferred).
Experience working at a startup or with entrepreneurs in the security or AI space (preferred).
Understanding of corporate innovation processes and enterprise AI adoption (preferred).
Excellent communication skills for translating technical concepts into business value (preferred).
Experience with channel partnerships, cloud marketplaces, ecosystem product integrations, cybersecurity, venture capital, or consulting (preferred).
