The Senior Plasma and Laser Physics Engineer serves as the technical owner for developing Cymer deep-ultraviolet laser discharge chambers. Working within a cross-functional team, this individual is responsible for designing, validating, and reviewing new features to improve chamber performance, including goals like extending lifetime and enhancing energy efficiency. The role involves investigating scientific problems, conducting prototype builds, and performing system-level testing and analysis. Candidates must possess expertise in plasma physics, electromagnetics, flow dynamics, or acoustics, alongside experience with laser systems and gas-state discharge lasers. Required technical skills include MATLAB or Python for data analysis and CAD tools like Creo or SolidWorks for mechanical parts. The work focuses on the development of DUV light sources used in photolithography scanners to image patterns on silicon wafers, specifically addressing challenges in plasma-material interaction and chamber stability.
Act as the technical owner for the design, validation, and review of DUV laser discharge chambers.
Drive the development and integration of innovative core technologies to improve chamber performance and reliability.
Apply expertise in plasma physics, electromagnetics, or flow dynamics to enhance excimer laser systems.
Validate new concepts through prototype builds, system-level testing, and detailed data analysis.
Investigate complex scientific problems independently and recommend technical solutions to management.
Prepare and revise technical documentation including specification documents, memos, and design validation reports.
Translate and statistically analyze experimental data to report findings in written or graphical formats.
Manage the transition of product designs from initial conception through to full production.
What we're looking for
Candidates must be legally authorized to access controlled technology as defined by Export Administration Regulations.
A Master's degree in Physics, Plasma Physics, Material Science, Metallurgy, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Physical Chemistry, or a related field is required.
A PhD is strongly preferred.
At least three years of relevant industry or research institute experience is required with a Master's degree.
Experience with plasmas, electromagnetics, lasers, flow dynamics, and acoustics is preferred.
Experience with excimer Lasers, other gas-state discharge lasers, or Semiconductor Capital Equipment is a plus.
Extensive experimental experience in a laboratory environment and proficiency in MATLAB or Python for data analysis are required.
Proficiency in CAD design for mechanical parts using tools like Creo or SolidWorks is required.
