Senior Manager, Hardware Engineering, Biopharma Solutions - R&D leads the global hardware engineering team within the Global R&D organization. This role provides technical and people leadership to manage the design, development, verification, commercialization, and lifecycle management of innovative bioprocessing and laboratory instrumentation products. The manager defines engineering strategies, technology roadmaps, and resource plans while driving execution in partnership with systems, software, product management, quality, and regulatory teams. Key responsibilities include establishing best practices for risk management, reliability, and design for manufacturability while serving as a technical leader for architecture decisions. The role requires expertise in electromechanical design, systems architecture, and design controls within the regulated life sciences, diagnostics, medical devices, or biotechnology sectors. Candidates must possess a degree in mechanical, electrical, systems, or biomedical engineering and extensive experience in complex instrumentation product development.
Lead and develop a high-performing global hardware engineering team for instrument platform development and lifecycle support.
Define engineering strategies, technology roadmaps, resource plans, and functional priorities to drive innovation and growth.
Drive hardware development execution in partnership with systems, software, product management, quality, and regulatory teams.
Establish and advance engineering best practices including design reviews, risk management, reliability, and verification/validation.
Serve as a technical leader for architecture decisions, technology selection, and complex engineering challenges.
Build organizational capability through talent development and the adoption of Danaher Business System tools.
Ensure all products align with business objectives, customer needs, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
12+ years of product development experience, or 10+ years with an advanced degree (MS/PhD).
5+ years of experience leading hardware engineering teams in a global, matrixed environment.
Proven success developing complex instrumentation products in life sciences, diagnostics, medical devices, biotechnology, or other regulated industries.
Expertise in systems architecture, electromechanical design, design controls, risk management, and verification and validation.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.
Experience building and scaling global hardware engineering organizations (preferred).
Experience leading regulated product development programs involving design controls, quality systems, reliability engineering, and commercialization (preferred).
