Senior Manager, Functional Ingredient Research - Application and Ingredient Delivery joins the Flavor and Ingredients Research & Application team within the Research to Experimentation function. This role focuses on translating scientifically validated functional ingredient innovations into differentiated beverage experiences across diverse categories to meet consumer wellness needs. The successful candidate will evaluate technical feasibility, sensory impact, and scalability of new ingredients while overcoming formulation, processing, and stability challenges. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing platform approaches for ingredient integration, creating prototypes, and establishing technical guidelines for manufacturing and cost effectiveness. Key requirements include a Master’s degree in Food Science or a related field, extensive beverage industry experience, and expertise in product development, food technology, and sensory testing. The role requires collaborating with cross-functional partners in analytical sciences, packaging, and regulatory affairs to bridge ingredient science with practical beverage formula design.
Integrate emerging functional ingredient technologies into beverage systems across multiple categories while maintaining sensory quality and stability.
Adapt ingredient solutions for diverse beverage matrices to ensure technical robustness, cost effectiveness, and scalability.
Resolve formulation, processing, and stability challenges associated with incorporating new ingredients into specific beverage types.
Develop a playbook of robust ingredient solutions and formulation designs to guide global product development teams.
Evaluate the feasibility, functionality, and scalability of new ingredients by collaborating with suppliers and research partners.
Translate scientific discoveries into practical beverage solutions while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Create beverage prototypes that demonstrate the potential of emerging technologies to create differentiated consumer experiences.
Establish technical guidelines and best practices for ingredient usage, compatibility, and performance across the global portfolio.
What we're looking for
Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Nutrition, or a related field.
At least 7 years of experience in the food and beverage industry.
At least 5 years of product development experience within The Coca-Cola Company.
Experience collaborating with global teams across multiple geographies.
Proficiency in project management principles, tools, and techniques.
Ability to travel globally up to 25% of the time.
Strong leadership, influencing, and communication skills.
Expertise in food technology, product development lifecycle, and sensory testing.
