As a Senior Lead Software Engineer - Java/React/AWS/AI within the Consumer and Community Banking team, you will join an agile team focused on building and delivering secure, stable, and scalable technology products. You will provide technical guidance to teams and vendors while developing high-quality production code and performing peer reviews. A primary focus involves driving the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices, including automated UI generation, test acceleration, and prompt engineering using tools like Claude and CoPilot. You will lead architectural evaluations with external partners and serve as a subject matter expert on firmwide frameworks. Your work requires expertise in Java, React, AWS, platform engineering, system design, and database management. You must navigate complex challenges involving high-scale systems, live data migrations, and the responsible use of AI tools to enhance software development life cycle outcomes.
Develop secure, high-quality production code while reviewing and debugging code written by other team members.
Drive the adoption and governance of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Establish measurable validation standards for AI-generated outputs including security, performance, and automated testing.
Provide technical guidance and direction to business teams, contractors, and vendors.
Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical credentials.
Influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations through informed decision-making.
Serve as a subject matter expert in specific technology areas to support the engineering community.
Implement cloud-native solutions using Java, React, and AWS to ensure scalable and stable production environments.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Strong experience in Java, React, platform engineering, AWS, systems design, solution design, low level design, database, messaging, and live migrations.
Experience with AI agents, automated generation of UI/code/test cases, and prompt engineering using LLM tools like Claude or CoPilot.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools for coding, review, and troubleshooting.
Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and secure handling of inputs/outputs.
Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight.
Practical cloud native experience.
Exposure to modern emerging technologies (preferred).
