What you'll do

Build and evolve a multi-threaded, Linux-based, real-time Java platform for high-throughput event flows.
Drive the analysis, design, and architecture for complex initiatives spanning multiple systems and teams.
Design, architect, and build core platform components while providing technical direction and mentoring engineers.
Manage large-scale sharded MongoDB clusters, focusing on design, performance, and operational behavior.
Serve as a technical expert on the core cashflow calculator to explain complex financial concepts to stakeholders.
Strengthen test automation and deployment practices to mature the team's CI/CD pipeline.
Participate in L3 support to lead the resolution of complex incidents and provide technical direction under pressure.
Utilize AI tooling to accelerate the software development life cycle while maintaining engineering oversight.

What we're looking for

10+ years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems.
Strong Java engineering skills including concurrent/multi-threaded programming, Spring Boot, and automated testing.
Proven technical leadership experience driving designs, influencing decisions, mentoring engineers, and delivering complex initiatives.
Strong communication skills to adapt between business, senior management, and detailed engineering discussions.
Solid understanding of event-driven architectures and messaging systems like Kafka and/or IBM MQ.
Strong RDBMS skills including complex SQL and performance tuning (Sybase and/or DB2 preferred).
Unix/Linux scripting skills using Shell and/or Python.
Experience operating or tuning large-scale sharded MongoDB clusters (preferred).
