Java Senior Software Engineer —Vice President will join the team to advance the Operating Model AI strategy by transitioning traditional operations into a predictive, scalable framework. This hands-on role involves designing, building, and shipping production-grade Java and Python applications across microservices and distributed architectures. The engineer will standardize telemetry using OpenTelemetry, leverage BigPanda for alert correlation and automated remediation, and utilize Google Cloud Observability tools like Cloud Monitoring, Logging, and Trace. Key responsibilities include integrating AI/ML capabilities into observability pipelines to enable self-healing systems and defining SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets. The ideal candidate possesses expertise in Spring Boot, RESTful API design, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices. This role solves the challenge of creating a unified, intelligent view of complex systems through advanced AIOps and automated infrastructure management.
Develop and deploy production-grade Java and Python applications across microservices and distributed architectures.
Standardize telemetry metrics, logs, and traces across the estate using OpenTelemetry (OTel).
Utilize BigPanda to correlate operational alerts, suppress noise, and build automated remediation workflows.
Leverage Google Cloud Observability tools for advanced cloud-native monitoring and performance analysis.
Integrate AI/ML capabilities into observability pipelines to enable predictive failure detection and self-healing systems.
Define and manage SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets in collaboration with reliability and product teams.
Act as a Subject Matter Expert to provide technical guidance and mentorship on observability and AIOps.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues to drive long-term system stability through root cause analysis.
What we're looking for
6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
Proven Java development skills using Spring Boot or equivalent frameworks to deliver production applications.
Practical Python experience for application development, automation, and tooling.
Demonstrated expertise in OpenTelemetry (OTel) for instrumenting applications and standardizing metrics, logs, and traces.
Proficiency with Google Cloud Observability tools including Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, and Cloud Trace.
Strong understanding of SRE principles such as SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and incident management.
Experience integrating AI/ML or agentic capabilities into operational workflows (highly desirable).
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, or a related field; Master's degree or relevant certifications are preferred.
