As a Senior Java Engineer – Assistant Vice President, you will join the technology team to design, build, and deliver mission-critical software applications that power financial services at global scale. You will take end-to-end ownership of the software development lifecycle, including strategic scoping, technical planning, development, testing, deployment, and post-launch support. Your daily responsibilities involve building mid-to-large-scale applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture while serving as a technical authority to diagnose complex performance issues and architectural flaws. You will also define engineering standards, champion Agile delivery, mentor other engineers, and manage third-party technology vendors. The role requires expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices, with optional experience in React or Angular. You will solve complex technical challenges within the financial services domain to ensure high-quality, scalable code for critical systems.
Design and build mid-to-large-scale Java applications using Spring Boot and Microservices architecture.
Serve as the technical authority for diagnosing complex performance issues, coding defects, and architectural flaws.
Manage the full software development lifecycle from initial scoping and planning through deployment and support.
Define and maintain engineering standards for coding, testing, and debugging across all application designs.
Champion Agile delivery by identifying inter-team dependencies and optimizing project throughput.
Translate complex technical decisions into clear outcomes for business stakeholders and senior leadership.
Mentor and coach engineers while sharing expertise through brown bags and internal forums.
Manage third-party technology vendors including implementation planning and partnership evaluation.
What we're looking for
5 to 8 years of experience in a software product development or technical environment with demonstrated capacity in a technical lead or project management role.
Hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices development for delivering production-grade applications.
Proven ability to manage the complete software development lifecycle from requirements and design through release and operational support.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to diagnosing technical issues.
Practical experience delivering projects using Agile or hybrid Agile-Waterfall methodologies.
Ability to manage third-party technology vendors, including implementation planning and partnership evaluation.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to align technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
Experience with front-end technologies such as React or Angular (preferred).
PMP, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or an equivalent project management certification (preferred).
Experience driving large-scale process improvement or engineering culture change within a technology organization (preferred).
Background leading infrastructure programs or complex, multi-team software delivery initiatives (preferred).
