Senior Industrial Engineer, Maritime Production System Design joins the Manufacturing Technology, Maritime Team to develop advanced manufacturing technologies for large-scale autonomous maritime systems. Working within the Production Controls team, you will design production systems by creating plant layouts, material flow paths, and space allocations for a new maritime factory. You will build discrete event simulation models and critical chain schedules to identify bottlenecks, optimize resource allocation, and validate capacity before construction begins. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing rate models, sequencing operations into work flows, and writing scripts to automate processes and increase team throughput. The role requires expertise in operations research, manufacturing systems for complex low-rate products like ships or aircraft, and proficiency in simulation and modeling tools. You will solve production challenges by integrating design, supply base, facilities, equipment, and personnel into a cohesive industrialization strategy.
Develop and maintain discrete event simulation models to drive production planning for the AI factory.
Create critical chain schedules to optimize resource allocation and identify manufacturing bottlenecks.
Design plant layouts, material flow paths, and space allocations for a new maritime factory.
Build capacity plans and rate models to determine annual production volume under specific configurations.
Sequence operations and workflows by breaking builds into stations and determining parallel processing paths.
Write scripts and build automated processes to increase team throughput and decision speed.
Translate analytical insights from simulations into actionable production control decisions for manufacturing teams.
What we're looking for
8+ years designing production systems, factory layouts, or manufacturing lines for large, complex, low-rate products.
Demonstrated experience in capacity or rate modeling.
Ability to work with manufacturing teams to implement process improvements based on simulation and analytical results.
Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, operations research, manufacturing engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical field (preferred).
Shipyard or aerospace final-assembly experience (preferred).
Greenfield or major-expansion factory work (preferred).
