As a Senior High-Speed I/O Engineer within the Hardware Test Engineering group, you will own the design, development, and deployment of metrology and test instrumentation systems for advanced hardware across the product portfolio. You will build automated instrumentation systems to validate the electrical function and performance of high-speed I/O technologies like USB, Thunderbolt, DisplayPort, HDMI, and PCIe from initial milestones through mass production. Your daily work involves partnering with System EE, Signal Integrity, Firmware, and Software teams to define test strategies and improve workflows using automation and AI-assisted analytics. You will perform root cause analysis, manage technical documentation, and debug systems from the component level up. Required skills include proficiency in C, Objective-C, or Lua for scripting and firmware, alongside deep knowledge of hardware architecture, schematics, and high-speed interconnect signal integrity.
Design and deploy automated instrumentation systems for high-speed I/O interfaces like USB-C, HDMI, and Thunderbolt.
Develop test strategies and infrastructure to validate electrical performance across the entire product lifecycle.
Perform root cause analysis and debug complex issues from the system level down to individual components.
Analyze large-scale instrument data using data-driven and AI-assisted methodologies to solve engineering challenges.
Author technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and debugging instructions for manufacturing partners.
Manage hardware bring-up by conducting deep technical dives into open issues and system behaviors.
Communicate technical findings and manage escalations to cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders.
What we're looking for
BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
7+ years of relevant professional experience.
Strong software development background including C, Objective-C, Lua, firmware, and scripting.
Solid command of hardware fundamentals such as architecture, block diagrams, schematics, and debug interfaces.
Experience with high-speed interconnects and signal integrity (USB, Thunderbolt, DisplayPort, HDMI, PCIe).
Proven ability to design, bring up, debug, and automate electrical systems.
Familiarity with test methodology, statistical analysis, Gauge R&R, consumer electronics manufacturing, AI tooling, and cross-functional leadership (preferred).
