Senior Distributed Systems Engineer, Services Special Projects

What you'll do

• Design and build high-throughput, low-latency backend services for real-time transactions and analytics.
• Develop scalable, fault-tolerant features that maintain high availability for mission-critical workloads.
• Build and operate multi-tenant platforms including AI/ML-powered services.
• Ship customer-facing features through performant and well-modeled service APIs.
• Perform JVM performance tuning and profiling for low-latency production services.
• Manage event streaming and queueing systems using Kafka for durable, queryable records.
• Identify, triage, and remediate security vulnerabilities in production services.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, building, and deployment of production services.

What we're looking for

• Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience building scalable, distributed systems in production.
• Experience building and operating large-scale, multi-tiered distributed systems, including API design, authentication, and high availability.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and fundamental data structures/algorithms, with working knowledge of Go or C++ (preferred).
• Hands-on experience with JVM performance tuning, async/reactive stacks (e.g., Netty, Project Reactor), and Gradle.
• Expertise in transactional consistency (ACID), gRPC, Kafka, and data storage technologies like Iceberg, Cassandra, and Redis.
• Experience with cloud-native tooling (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and identifying/remediating production security vulnerabilities.
• Experience with machine learning systems, LLM deployment, and security/cryptography protocols (preferred).
