Senior Distributed Systems Engineer

What you'll do

• Design and operate backend services that enforce geographic data storage and processing boundaries across a global edge network.
• Own the full lifecycle of features including technical design, implementation in Go or Rust, testing, and production rollout.
• Integrate residency guarantees into existing infrastructure without compromising system performance or reliability.
• Analyze failure modes to ensure systems fail closed for compliance while maintaining graceful degradation for availability.
• Participate in on-call rotations, lead incident responses, and conduct post-mortems to improve system reliability.
• Perform code reviews and mentor others to maintain high engineering standards and documentation quality.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to accelerate the delivery of secure and accurate software solutions.

What we're looking for

• Must have 5+ years of professional experience designing, building, and operating production distributed systems at scale.
• Must be proficient in at least one system or backend language such as Go, Rust, or C/C++.
• Must possess a solid grasp of distributed systems fundamentals including consistency models, replication, sharding, and failure modes.
• Must have practical experience with API design (REST or gRPC), relational databases, and asynchronous messaging or event streaming.
• Must be comfortable using AI-assisted development tools while maintaining accountability for correctness and security.
• Must have a track record of production ownership including on-call, incident response, and post-mortems.
• Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills to create design documents and collaborate across time zones.
• Must be authorized to receive software or technology controlled under U.S. export control laws.
