The Senior Director, Technology Operations - Global Marketplace Returns leads the global Returns transformation for the Marketplace team. This role involves defining the global cross-border strategy and operating model to improve customer and seller experiences through trust, simplicity, and economic sustainability. You will build scalable capabilities, drive reverse-logistics improvements, and manage cost-to-serve, recovery, and operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include setting policy, dispute, and fraud priorities while translating business needs into scalable product and technology priorities. The role requires deep expertise in eCommerce, Marketplace operations, reverse logistics, and supply chain. You must demonstrate the ability to influence Product and Engineering roadmaps to deliver technology solutions. Success involves leading complex, cross-functional, multi-market initiatives and building high-performing teams to solve post-purchase experience and reverse-logistics economic challenges.
Define the global, cross-border Marketplace Returns strategy and operating model.
Improve customer and seller experiences through transparency, simplicity, and economic sustainability.
Drive improvements in reverse-logistics, cost-to-serve, recovery, and operational efficiency.
Set priorities for policy, dispute resolution, seller protection, fraud, and abuse.
Translate business needs into scalable product and technology priorities.
Build and lead a high-performing team to execute the returns transformation.
What we're looking for
12+ years of experience in eCommerce, Marketplace, Returns, reverse logistics, post-purchase, retail technology, supply chain, or related areas.
Deep expertise in Returns, Marketplace operations, or reverse logistics and their customer, seller, and financial tradeoffs.
Proven ability to influence Product and Engineering roadmaps and deliver scalable technology solutions.
Experience leading complex, cross-functional, global or multi-market initiatives with strong analytical and executive communication skills.
Success building high-performing teams.
Fraud, abuse, risk, or seller-protection experience (preferred).
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 7 years’ experience in project management, program management, program operations, or related area.
Option 2: 9 years’ experience in project management, program management, program operations, or related area and 4 years’ supervisory experience.
Master’s degree in a relevant field and 6 years' experience in project management, program management, program operations, or related area (preferred).
Knowledge of implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards and assistive technologies (preferred).
