Senior Battery Systems Technical Lead

What you'll do

• Lead battery programs from initial concept through design freeze, certification, and production launch.
• Gather customer requirements and define development loops using corporate requirements management tools.
• Make key architecture, sourcing, and make-buy decisions to build organizational consensus.
• Lead technical engagement and design reviews with cell, module, and pack suppliers.
• Develop scalable battery architectures that can be reused across multiple Caterpillar platforms.
• Create detailed resource loading, project R&D estimates, and high-level project plans.
• Manage critical paths, supplier lead times, prototype builds, and test schedules for battery programs.
• Translate customer duty cycles and operating environments into clear, testable battery system requirements.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field.
• Extensive experience in battery cells, modules, packs, BDUs, and BMS.
• Extensive experience in requirements analysis to translate customer needs into testable battery system requirements.
• Extensive experience using influencing tactics to build consensus on architecture, sourcing, and make-buy decisions.
• Advanced project management skills to plan and execute battery programs from concept through production launch.
• Advanced team management skills to lead cross-functional teams of design, test, validation, software, and manufacturing engineers.
• Knowledge in battery cell, module, pack, and/or system design (preferred).
• Knowledge in battery electric powertrain integration, including BMS hardware and software (preferred).
