Senior Associate, Field Engineering joins the Airborne Sensor Program to support mission systems operations on specialized aircraft. This role aligns with the Level 4 Mission Systems Crew Chief position, where you will ensure mission systems readiness, performance, and operational support. You will be responsible for platform readiness planning, system preparation, and providing on-site engineering assistance during integration efforts and test events. Day-to-day tasks include installing electronic equipment, troubleshooting hardware and software to the line replaceable unit level, and identifying design flaws. The role requires advanced knowledge of circuit boards, processors, and computer hardware, alongside proficiency with MS Windows, Microsoft Office, PuTTY, Wireshark, and standard electrical test equipment. You will support the integration of complex mission systems for the Missile Defense Agency, specifically focusing on airborne EO/IR sensor capabilities and data collection for various test activities.
Ensure mission systems readiness and performance on specialized airborne platforms.
Provide on-site engineering assistance for hardware/software integration and test events.
Install and configure electronic equipment, wiring, and software programs to meet specifications.
Troubleshoot complex integrated mission systems down to the line replaceable unit level.
Perform in-flight and post-flight test engineering support for sensor data collection.
Identify and resolve hardware and software design flaws during development and testing phases.
Provide technical expertise for quality assurance, user testing, and scenario-based evaluations.
Support ground and flight demonstrations for potential customers and business development.
What we're looking for
A Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of related experience, a Graduate degree with 0 to 2 years of experience, or 6 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance or currently hold an active Secret clearance.
Active TS/SCI with Polygraph, or the ability to obtain one (preferred).
Advanced knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, and computer hardware/software systems.
Ability to troubleshoot system problems to line replaceable unit level.
Experience with EO/IR sensor systems, gimbaled optical imaging systems, or aviation modification/repair (preferred).
Proficiency with MS Windows, Microsoft Office, PuTTY, Wireshark, and standard electrical test equipment (preferred).
