The Senior Analyst, Business Systems serves as a strategic liaison within the Information Research function, connecting Discovery business stakeholders, omics scientists, data scientists, and engineering teams. This role focuses on enabling systems, workflows, and data capabilities that allow research teams to manage and analyze complex scientific data such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. The individual will elicit and document business requirements, create functional requirements, perform data and process modeling, and lead testing and validation activities to ensure compliance with internal standards. Key responsibilities include managing vendor relationships, translating scientific needs into actionable user stories, and overseeing system optimizations. Required skills include experience in business systems analysis, SDLC methodologies, Agile practices, and a working understanding of Large Language Models and generative AI. The role addresses the technical challenge of integrating complex omics research data into scalable workflows.
Elicit and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements for omics research systems.
Translate complex scientific needs into actionable user stories, process flows, and technical specifications.
Act as a strategic liaison between research scientists, data engineers, and IT delivery teams.
Perform data and process modeling to ensure alignment with internal standards and security controls.
Manage the lifecycle of omics systems by ensuring they are optimized, maintained, and compliant.
Coordinate testing, verification, and validation activities with stakeholders across business and technology units.
Partner with external vendors to facilitate system enhancements and troubleshoot technical issues.
Develop value assessments and business cases to support project prioritization and resource allocation.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Genomics, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or related discipline; OR a Bachelor's in Information Systems or Computer Science with life science experience.
A Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience or a Master’s degree with 4 years of experience.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in business systems analysis, consulting, product ownership, project delivery, or technology consulting.
Foundational understanding of omics research workflows and data concepts including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics.
Experience eliciting, documenting, and managing business and functional requirements while translating scientific needs into technical solutions.
Experience supporting enterprise software delivery initiatives using SDLC methodologies, Agile practices, and modern product delivery approaches.
Working understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), generative AI, and traditional AI/ML concepts.
Previous wet lab experience; experience with omics informatics platforms, cloud environments, or regulated industries (preferred).
