TL;DR · Scrum Master/Principal Scrum Master

The Scrum Master/Principal Scrum Master is a dual-level position supporting the Sentinel Program. Serving as a servant leader and delivery facilitator, the Scrum Master supports one or more cross-functional Agile teams to ensure consistent execution of Scrum practices and high-quality solution delivery. Key responsibilities include facilitating ceremonies like sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives, while partnering with Product Owners to maintain prioritized backlogs. The role involves removing impediments, managing cross-team dependencies, and tracking metrics such as velocity, burndown, cycle time, and throughput. Candidates must possess experience with Agile frameworks, user stories, and Jira. The position requires coaching stakeholders on Agile values, fostering psychological safety, and managing delivery in complex, highly regulated environments, specifically aligning Agile metrics with earned value management requirements and program-level cost and schedule performance data.

What you'll do

  • Facilitate core Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Partner with Product Owners to maintain and prioritize a well-defined product backlog aligned with business objectives.
  • Identify and remove team impediments while managing cross-team dependencies and shielding the team from scope changes.
  • Track and communicate Agile metrics such as velocity, burndown, cycle time, and throughput to drive continuous improvement.
  • Coach team members, Product Owners, and stakeholders on Agile values, principles, and accountability.
  • Provide regular progress reporting to stakeholders regarding sprint objectives, release plans, and key performance indicators.
  • Coordinate with other teams to manage change management related to Agile adoption and risk resolution.

What we're looking for

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience applying Agile frameworks and practices in a software or IT delivery environment.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience using Agile lifecycle management tools such as Jira.
  • Demonstrated ability to remove team impediments and facilitate Agile ceremonies like daily stand-ups and sprint planning.
  • Proven communication and facilitation skills to lead cross-functional discussions with developers, product owners, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience defining, capturing, and reporting Agile team metrics to recommend workflow improvements.
  • Active USG Security Clearance, Secret or higher (preferred).
  • Formal Agile certification such as CSM, PSM, or SAFe Scrum Master (preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency with Atlassian tools, including workflows and automation (preferred).
  • Experience coaching Product Owners and stakeholders on backlog strategy and value-based prioritization (preferred).
  • Hands-on experience in scaled Agile environments and managing cross-team dependencies (preferred).
