As the Sales Engineer - Regulated Industries, you will join the Sales Engineering team to build out a new function from the ground up. You will serve as the lead technical advisor for the Public Sector, Education, Healthcare, Life Sciences, and Utilities markets. Your daily responsibilities include leading discovery, conducting demos, designing architectures, and managing RFIs and RFPs. You will run hands-on API pilots and POCs to guide integration tradeoffs while building reusable solution guides and reference architectures. You must possess expertise in payments, identity, fraud, onboarding, and income verification. Key skills include web and mobile architecture knowledge, technical selling, and the ability to navigate complex privacy, security, and compliance requirements within highly regulated environments to translate technical capabilities into tangible business value.
Serve as the lead technical advisor from initial discovery through solution design and post-sale handoff.
Lead discovery, product demonstrations, architecture design, and RFI/RFP responses for regulated industry workflows.
Run hands-on API pilots and Proof of Concepts while defining success criteria and integration tradeoffs.
Connect Plaid's technical capabilities to specific business values for payments, identity, and fraud use cases.
Surface product, privacy, security, and compliance requirements early to coordinate specialist reviews.
Build reusable solution guides, reference architectures, and enablement materials to support partner integrations.
Shape vertical strategy and provide product feedback to Sales, Product, Partnerships, and Marketing teams.
Partner with the Implementation team to ensure successful customer adoption and share best practices.
What we're looking for
7+ years of customer-facing experience in technical selling, solutions engineering, or enterprise consulting.
3+ years supporting one or more regulated industries, including Public Sector, Healthcare, Education, Utilities, or similarly regulated environments.
Experience leading complex technical evaluations and partnering strategically with AEs across multistakeholder pursuits.
Hands-on API and web/mobile architecture knowledge; ability to build demos, solution diagrams, and integration guidance.
Strong discovery, communication, and customer empathy, connecting technical choices to business outcomes.
Ability to build reusable technical assets and support partner-led integrations and adoption.
Willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time.
Experience in fintech/payments, identity, fraud, or income-verification; familiarity with public-sector procurement, systems integrators, or healthcare platforms (preferred).
