As an RFIC Design Engineer on the Amazon Leo team, you will collaborate with cross-disciplinary internal teams and third-party suppliers to develop innovative product solutions for a low-earth orbit satellite constellation providing high-speed broadband connectivity. You will be responsible for the architectural definition, design, simulation, layout, and extracted simulation of transmit and receive front-ends, including data converters, LNAs, and PAs. Your daily work involves leading the implementation of area and power-efficient RFIC chips with integrated PLLs from concept to production while defining analog/digital boundary requirements for circuit calibration and clock generation. You will utilize tools like EMX or HFSS to design on-chip inductors and baluns. The role requires expertise in mm-wave circuits, including VCOs, mixers, and phase shifters, as well as experience with 4G/5G NR, WiMAX, and various advanced semiconductor technologies.

What you'll do

Define the architecture and design transmit/receive front-ends from data converters to LNAs and PAs.
Lead the implementation of area and power-efficient RFIC chips with integrated PLLs from concept to production.
Explore architectures for mm-wave circuits including VCOs, mixers, phase shifters, and frequency multipliers.
Design and simulate on-chip inductors, baluns, and power combiners using tools like EMX or HFSS.
Perform circuit layout, RLC extraction, and run extracted simulations across various corners to ensure production robustness.
Define analog/digital boundary requirements for circuit calibration, clock generation, and timing.
Develop specific bench and production test plans for all designed components.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Experience with current and upcoming RF standards in cellular (4G/5G NR), WiMAX, 802.11ad, microwave backhaul, or other broadband wireless standards.
Experience in mm-Wave/RFIC design, preferably in an advanced node (preferred).
Experience leading integrated RF transceiver chipsets containing LNAs, PAs, ADCs, DACs, baseband filters, and mixers (preferred).
Millimeter-wave circuit design and layout in FinFET, SOI, BiCMOS, and Bulk CMOS technologies (preferred).
Knowledge of analog circuit design fundamentals, electromagnetics of passive devices, and device physics of leading edge silicon and III-V devices (preferred).
Mixed-signal design and verification techniques (preferred).
Export control laws and regulations, candidates.
