R&D Engineering Technician

What you'll do

• Build and test new optical systems for airborne, maritime, and space platforms.
• Fabricate and assemble high-quality, high-reliability electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Develop and implement integration and test fixtures while monitoring and reporting results.
• Manage internal prototyping resources including mechanical and electrical fabrication equipment.
• Oversee the R&D space from both a facilities and organizational standpoint.
• Execute the entire rapid prototyping process from material ordering to final completion.
• Troubleshoot, assemble, and manufacture cables and wiring harnesses using soldering and crimping.

What we're looking for

• Minimum 4 years experience as a technician working on complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Ability to manage the rapid prototyping process from start to finish with limited oversight.
• Experience building and troubleshooting cables and wiring harnesses.
• Proficiency in soldering, crimping, and assembling cables and connectors.
• Basic electrical understanding including Ohm's Law, voltage drop calculations, and wire sizing.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
• Preferred experience with alignment and characterization of optical systems.
• Preferred familiarity with 3D printing, manual machine tools, and CAD/scripting software.
