Product Engineer 5 joins the Global Operations Group to drive product development within the semiconductor equipment industry. This role involves collaborating with internal teams and global suppliers to identify, triage, and resolve quality issues while developing qualification plans for new parts and manufacturing technologies. The engineer will lead projects from prototyping through field support, independently designing experiments and tests to solve complex technical problems. Key responsibilities include providing technical support for installation, troubleshooting, and debugging in cleanroom lab or customer fab environments. Required skills include failure analysis using microscopy, thermal and mechanical analysis, and spectroscopy. Preferred qualifications include experience with plastics fabrication, roll-to-roll material casting, and statistical software like JMP or Minitab. The role requires strong analytical thinking to navigate the technical challenges of manufacturing and product differentiation in a high-stakes environment.
Drive part development, production qualification, and quality plan implementation across the global supplier network.
Lead product development projects from initial prototyping through deployment and field support.
Design and conduct experiments and prototypes to resolve complex technical problems independently.
Provide coaching and guidance to suppliers to implement recommended experimental designs.
Present technical analysis and recommendations clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex product issues in cleanroom labs or customer fabs.
Identify and triage quality issues as a liaison between the product group and supplier engineering.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Physics, or Chemistry with 12 years of experience.
Master's degree with 8 years of experience or a PhD with at least 5 years of experience.
Experience with failure analysis using microscopy, thermal and mechanical analysis, spectroscopy, and other materials characterization techniques.
Exceptional analytical, experimental design, communication, and presentation skills.
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Experience leading cross-functional teams involving internal and external stakeholders in product engineering, manufacturing, and quality (preferred).
Experience in plastics/soft material fabrication, roll-to-roll casting, and thermal materials characterization (preferred).
Knowledge of statistical analysis software like JMP or Minitab, Gage R&R, and Process Capability Analysis (preferred).
