The Principal Systems Analyst joins the technology team to analyze systems and business processes, defining actionable requirements for effective technology solutions. This role involves evaluating current-state capabilities, identifying gaps, and translating business needs into structured artifacts for design, development, and validation. Key responsibilities include leading interviews with business users, establishing project life cycle plans, designing new systems, and coordinating user acceptance testing. The position requires expertise in SQL, APIs, and Webservices including REST, JSON, and SOAP. Candidates must use Visio, Excel, Azure DevOps, or Jira to create process maps, wireframes, and data schemas. The work focuses on solving complex business needs by converting rules into functional specifications, managing API integrations, and providing production support through root cause analysis of database data and error messages.
Conduct interviews with business users to gather requirements and analyze technology needs and workflow challenges.
Develop recommendations to address complex business needs and establish full project life cycle plans.
Design new systems based on requirements and lead the execution of documentation for large projects.
Define test strategies and coordinate user acceptance testing efforts to ensure system quality.
Translate business rules into functional requirements including data mapping, error handling, and API integrations.
Provide production support by triaging issues, performing root cause analysis, and prioritizing defect backlogs.
Coach and mentor junior analysts and developers on systems analysis techniques and business workflows.
Communicate project progress to management and manage expectations for all internal and external stakeholders.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field and five years of experience as a Principal Systems Analyst.
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field and three years of experience as a Principal Systems Analyst.
Experience performing analysis of software or cloud-based applications using SQL and API or Webservices (REST or JSON and SOAP).
Expertise in conducting stakeholder interviews to document functional requirements, technical specifications, process maps, wireframes, and data schemas.
Expertise in translating complex technical designs into business-friendly concepts using Visio or Excel.
Expertise in building, refining, and prioritizing product backlogs within Azure DevOps or Jira.
Expertise in developing SQL queries, conducting functional and regression testing, and coordinating User Acceptance testing.
Expertise in converting business rules into functional specifications including data mapping, error handling, and API integration analysis.
