As a Principal Platform Software Engineer, you will join the Cryptography division to design, implement, and operate highly scalable services for the Key Management Service. What you'll do

Lead the design, implementation, and operation of highly scalable distributed systems for the Cryptography division.
Develop and optimize middleware patterns, versioning strategies, and observability baselines across multiple services.
Conduct performance profiling, debugging, and troubleshooting to resolve complex software issues and API integration problems.
Provide technical leadership, coaching, and code reviews to junior engineers to ensure high-quality software standards.
Implement secure coding practices and manage system maintenance tasks such as patching for critical vulnerabilities.
Manage multiple projects by coordinating timelines, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring alignment with business requirements.
Research and evaluate new technologies to drive architectural improvements and innovation within the platform.

What we're looking for

Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent (preferred).
Minimum 7 years of experience in software engineering, with at least half in an Agile/DevOps environment (preferred).
5+ years of Java development or other object-oriented language experience (preferred).
5+ years of experience building and operating distributed systems (preferred).
Strong knowledge of microservices, data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems.
Solid understanding of relational databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and distributed persistence.
Knowledge of Linux/Unix fundamentals or cryptography is highly desirable.
