Principal Platform Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Define the architecture and technical strategy for core services and APIs powering the OCI application deployment platform.
• Lead the delivery of resilient, scalable deployment workflows and platform primitives for diverse service architectures.
• Translate multi-organization needs into clear technical strategies, design principles, and execution plans across teams.
• Establish safety and reliability defaults through isolation, policy enforcement, auditability, and observability.
• Shape technical foundations for AI-assisted engineering workflows, including governance, safety controls, and human oversight.
• Identify high-leverage investments to improve developer experience, performance, and deployment success rates using operational signals.
• Raise engineering standards through architecture reviews, technical mentorship, and leadership on complex cross-team initiatives.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proven record of leading the design and delivery of production-quality distributed systems, platform services, or developer tools.
• Strong programming skills in one or more modern languages such as Java, Go, C++, C#, or Python.
• Deep experience designing APIs, data models, and service architectures for scalability, availability, security, and operability.
• Solid understanding of cloud-native systems, including containers, orchestration, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, or release engineering.
• Demonstrated technical leadership to define strategy, align stakeholders, and drive execution across teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to influence technical decisions and build alignment across organizational boundaries.
