As a Principal Platform Software Engineer, you will join the team to build and evolve a large-scale Application Performance Monitoring platform. You will develop Java microservices and Apache Flink applications to ingest, process, store, and query high-volume observability data while ensuring low latency and cost efficiency. Your daily work involves managing core repositories, building scalable query engines for traces and metrics, designing streaming ingestion pipelines, and overseeing the transition from relational databases to OCI Log Analytics. You will also develop monitoring agents, manage telemetry schemas, and create UI experiences for incident diagnosis. The role requires expertise in Java, Kubernetes, OCI components like OCI Streaming and OKE, SQL, and OpenTelemetry. You will solve complex problems regarding data quality and infrastructure migration while partnering with customers to optimize performance across the entire observability platform.

What you'll do

Develop and maintain Java microservices and Apache Flink applications for high-volume telemetry data.
Build scalable query engines for traces, spans, metrics, logs, and service topology data.
Design and operate Flink-based streaming pipelines to validate, enrich, and route observability data.
Lead the migration of data from relational databases to OCI Log Analytics.
Manage telemetry schemas, versioning, data contracts, and quality controls.
Build and maintain application monitoring agents with low runtime overhead.
Develop UI experiences for exploring telemetry, diagnosing incidents, and visualizing performance trends.
Deploy and operate cloud-native services using OCI components and Kubernetes.

What we're looking for

Must have 3 to 5+ years of experience.
Strong Java software engineering experience, specifically in building distributed microservices.
Hands-on experience developing Apache Flink applications and streaming data pipelines.
Strong knowledge of OCI services, particularly OCI Streaming and Kubernetes/OKE.
Experience with relational databases, data modeling, schema evolution, and infrastructure migrations.
Familiarity with OCI Log Analytics or comparable log analytics and observability platforms.
Familiarity with OpenTelemetry and modern monitoring technologies like distributed tracing and metrics.
Experience designing high-throughput systems involving telemetry or event streams of millions of events per minute.
