Principal Mainframe Performance and Capacity

What you'll do

• Analyze CICS performance, behavior, and internal functions to identify bottlenecks and optimize application usage.
• Evaluate IBM MQ infrastructure, including queue managers and channels, to identify tuning and problem-determination opportunities.
• Monitor and analyze WAS on z/OS, Liberty, and Compute Grid workloads using PMI metrics and JVM dump analysis.
• Perform performance analysis of Kafka MQ connectors, brokers, and message flows across the middleware landscape.
• Develop SAS programs, REXX scripts, and Python code to automate metric collection and generate performance reports.
• Create and maintain Grafana dashboards and automated reporting tools to improve operational visibility.
• Investigate system behavior using SYSVIEW, IntelliMagic, and other monitoring tools to resolve production incidents.
• Document technical findings, analysis methods, and operational procedures to ensure team knowledge sharing and backup coverage.

What we're looking for

• Must have technology experience in mainframe middleware, performance engineering, systems programming, or production support.
• Experience supporting or analyzing IBM mainframe middleware domains such as CICS, MQ, WAS, Liberty, Compute Grid, Kafka integration, or ODM.
• Working knowledge of z/OS components including SMF/RMF data, GP/zIIP usage, memory, Coupling Facility, and zFS file systems.
• Experience using analysis platforms such as SYSVIEW, IntelliMagic, OMEGAMON, SAS/MXG, Grafana, Datadog, Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, or PostgreSQL.
• Ability to perform technical analysis, communicate findings clearly, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Programming or scripting experience in SAS, REXX, Python, Java, Assembler, or Bash (preferred).
• Experience with dump analysis, JVM diagnostics, IPCS, or subsystem traces (preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related field (preferred).
