Principal Mainframe Performance and Capacity

What you'll do

• Analyze CICS performance, behavior, and internal functions to identify bottlenecks and optimize application usage.
• Evaluate IBM MQ behavior across queue managers and channels to identify tuning and problem-determination opportunities.
• Monitor and analyze WAS on z/OS, Liberty, and Compute Grid workloads using PMI metrics and JVM dumps.
• Perform performance analysis of Kafka MQ connectors, including broker settings and message flow.
• Develop SAS programs for performance reporting and REXX scripts to gather non-standard SMF metrics.
• Create and maintain Grafana dashboards using Python and Prometheus to automate metric collection and visualization.
• Investigate subsystem behavior using SYSVIEW tools and IntelliMagic for trend analysis and capacity planning.
• Document technical findings, automated scripts, and operational procedures to improve team knowledge sharing.

What we're looking for

• Must have technology experience in mainframe middleware, performance engineering, systems programming, or production support.
• Experience supporting one or more IBM mainframe middleware domains including CICS, MQ, WAS, Liberty, Compute Grid, Kafka integration, or ODM.
• Working knowledge of z/OS components such as SMF/RMF data, GP/zIIP usage, memory, Coupling Facility, and zFS file systems.
• Experience using analysis platforms such as SYSVIEW, IntelliMagic, OMEGAMON, SAS/MXG, Grafana, Datadog, Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, or PostgreSQL.
• Ability to perform technical analysis, communicate findings clearly, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Programming or scripting experience in SAS, REXX, Python, Java, Assembler, or Bash (preferred).
• Experience with dump analysis, JVM diagnostics, IPCS, or subsystem traces (preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related field (preferred).
