Principal Mainframe Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Develop complex stock plan services software applications on a mainframe platform running under a Z/OS environment.
• Lead an interactive team to implement scalable application architecture while ensuring conformance to established standards.
• Perform mainframe performance tuning and capacity planning to reduce I/Os, CPU Time, MSUs, and MIPs.
• Execute full-stack engineering tasks including requirements gathering, development, and end-to-end testing within an Agile framework.
• Provide on-site and on-call support as a subject matter expert for cross-functional crisis management teams.
• Resolve technical roadblocks across multiple technologies and recommend improvements to prevent recurring issues.
• Plan and conduct system testing while ensuring the QA readiness of all software deliverables.
• Create comprehensive documentation and project lifecycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field and 5 to experience in the role or as a technical lead.
• Master's degree in a relevant technical field and 3 to experience in the role or as a technical lead.
• Expertise in mainframe application development, automation, and support using COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, MQ-Series, and SQL.
• Experience in mainframe performance tuning and capacity planning using tools like Strobe, iStrobe, and Platinum Detector.
• Proficiency with File-AID, Endeavor, Intertest, Abend-AID, and Control-M.
• Ability to perform as a full stack engineer within an Agile team including requirements gathering and end-to-end testing.
• Experience leading teams to implement scalable application architecture while ensuring conformance to established standards.
• Ability to provide technical leadership, resolve roadblocks, and act as a subject matter expert for cross-functional teams.
