Principal Front-Office Trading Integration Engineer - Vice President - Java, Talend, Kafka, ETL - Charles River Development serves as a subject-matter expert within the Charles River Development team to deliver enterprise investment management software solutions. This role involves assessing client needs, designing technical solutions from pre-sales through implementation, and managing multiple technical initiatives including n-tier software installations for DR/HA designs. The successful candidate will mentor consultants, lead project engagements, and provide advanced configuration and troubleshooting for the CRIMS platform. Required technical skills include programming in Java or C#, proficiency with RDBMS such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, or Sybase, and experience with Kafka, Talend, Kettle, Tomcat, and SOAP/XML messaging. The role addresses complex front-office, buy-side, and middle-office investment trading challenges involving fixed income, equities, derivatives, and foreign exchange within the institutional investment space.
Oversee day-to-day operations of client engagements and lead projects to completion within the defined scope and SOW.
Gather, analyze, and communicate technical solution designs to both clients and internal teams from pre-sales through implementation.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced consultants on project implementations and resource allocation.
Design prototypes and proof of concept projects to demonstrate the potential of CRIMS software to prospective clients.
Manage multiple simultaneous technical initiatives including the installation of n-tier software to DR/HA designs.
Identify, document, and drive resolutions for critical project issues within the engagement team.
Build relationships with key decision makers and manage difficult situations to influence project outcomes.
Solve complex problems by identifying long-term solutions across multiple concurrent projects.
What we're looking for
Required experience in Front-Office, Buyside, or Middle-Office Investment Software trading.
Advanced understanding of Charles River Investment Management Solution (CRIMS) and technical proficiency in Infrastructure, Performance Tuning, Development, Advanced Configuration, Trouble Shooting, or Integration.
Ability to program using Java or C#.
In-depth knowledge of at least one RDBMS: Oracle, MS SQL Server, or Sybase.
Detailed knowledge of Tomcat configuration, N-tier architecture, SOAP/XML Messaging, and Kafka.
Knowledge of ETL Tools such as Kettle and Talend.
Familiarity with Windows, Unix (Solaris and Linux), and at least one SCM like Subversion or Perforce.
A BA/BS degree in a business or technical field including Finance, Economics, Engineering, or Computer Science (preferred).
