Principal Engineer, Utility

What you'll do

• Manage third-party engineering consultants and EPC contractors during the design, construction, and operation of utility-scale solar and battery storage projects.
• Perform technical project due diligence and lead internal and external design review meetings to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Develop contract documents, procurement specifications, and technical requirements for owner-furnished equipment.
• Value engineer system designs to maximize reliability while reducing overall project costs.
• Manage Procore RFIs and submittals to ensure timely responses from construction teams and internal stakeholders.
• Provide technical support during construction, including reviewing test reports, resolving punch list items, and supporting commissioning activities.
• Mentor and train junior engineers on technical acumen, safety protocols, and emerging industry trends.
• Identify jobsite hazards during site safety walks and maintain required safety certifications like NFPA 70E and OSHA.

What we're looking for

• Undergraduate degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, or civil preferred) or equivalent technical field.
• 10+ years professional experience in energy system design, project or land development, and/or construction.
• 5+ years of experience in project management, consulting, or as a project engineer.
• Engineering design experience in either electrical design for utility scale PV and BESS projects or stormwater and grading expertise.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite and direct project experience with Procore.
• Graduate degree in engineering (preferred).
• EIT or PE qualifications (preferred).
• Work authorization.
