Development Engineer

What you'll do

• Design preliminary plant layouts, site plans, and single-line diagrams for solar PV and battery storage projects.
• Select primary project equipment including inverters, modules, batteries, and trackers based on site conditions and utility requirements.
• Model energy production and battery dispatch using tools such as PVsyst or Solar Farmer.
• Conduct remote and in-person site evaluations to assess technical constraints and constructability.
• Perform technical due diligence on third-party production estimates, site plans, and meteorological data.
• Support the development team in preparing responses for RFPs, permit applications, and interconnection requests.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to manage civil, geotechnical, and electrical engineering designs.
• Contribute to the improvement of internal design tools and processes for more accurate cost estimation.

What we're looking for

• Undergraduate degree in engineering (electrical or mechanical preferred) or an equivalent technical field.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in energy system design or consulting.
• Direct design experience with photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
• Proficiency with modeling tools including PVsyst, Solar Farmer, SAM, and AutoCAD.
• Strong communication, task management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage third-party consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders effectively.
• Proficiency in the MS Office Suite.
• Work authorization.
