The Principal Engineer, Core Infrastructure joins the Technical Strategy & Oversight organization to build foundational systems for OCI. What you'll do

Architect and lead the development of scalable, elastic distributed systems for core infrastructure.
Optimize code and data paths to support high-throughput, hyper-scale workloads and large-scale data processing.
Design fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, and automated failover mechanisms to ensure high availability.
Implement network reliability strategies including load-shedding, throttling, and rate-limiting to meet service level objectives.
Develop telemetry, dashboards, and alerting systems to proactively monitor system health and performance.
Conduct complex validation testing such as fault injection and brown-out scenarios to ensure system correctness.
Build Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation tools for safe patching, updates, and rollbacks.
Resolve production issues and mentor peers on troubleshooting, incident response, and root cause analysis.

What we're looking for

BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
6 to 10+ years of software engineering experience building highly available, scalable distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.
Proficiency in Java, Go, Rust, C/C++, or similar systems and backend languages.
Deep experience in core infrastructure areas such as distributed systems, cloud control planes, networking, storage, or virtualization.
Ability to independently lead the design and delivery of complex, resilient, and observable services.
Strong understanding of failure handling, concurrency, asynchronous workflows, and lifecycle management in distributed systems.
Proven ability to mentor peers and raise the technical bar through design reviews and code reviews.
Experience with Linux, Kernel programming, and System programming.
