Principal Desktop Engineer

What you'll do

• Define and own the enterprise roadmap for end-user computing, including OS modernization and cloud-first management.
• Design and manage technical standards for Windows, macOS, and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) platforms.
• Drive automation initiatives such as zero-touch provisioning, Intune adoption, and self-healing solutions.
• Serve as the highest-level technical escalation point for complex endpoint issues and root-cause analysis.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 20–25 engineers and technicians to ensure high performance.
• Oversee large-scale projects including OS migrations, hardware refreshes, and enterprise software deployments.
• Establish operational excellence through KPIs, standard operating procedures, and vendor management.
• Lead the end-user computing testing strategy, including pre-production validation and defect management.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in IT engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in enterprise desktop or end-user computing roles including leadership responsibilities.
• Deep hands-on knowledge of Windows and macOS deployment, imaging, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management in large enterprises.
• Expert-level experience with Microsoft SCCM/MECM and Microsoft Intune for software distribution, patching, and compliance.
• Strong understanding of virtual desktop technologies such as Citrix, VMware Horizon, or Azure Virtual Desktop.
• Proven ability to automate endpoint operations using PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages.
• Solid understanding of endpoint security best practices and desktop-relevant networking concepts like LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, DNS, and DHCP.
