Principal Architect

What you'll do

• Identify high-value AI use cases and translate them into products with clear scope and success criteria.
• Design end-to-end architecture for AI systems including retrieval, agent orchestration, tool integration, and evaluation harnesses.
• Write product requirements, design documents, and architecture decision records for owned AI products.
• Build production implementations using AI coding agents while ensuring high quality through disciplined testing and review.
• Integrate AI applications with enterprise platforms, identity services, and data systems following security standards.
• Create reusable building blocks such as agent skills, MCP servers, and evaluation libraries for other teams to adopt.
• Coach architects and engineers on advanced AI coding techniques and AI-augmented workflows.
• Represent the organization in vendor evaluations and stay current on the open-source AI ecosystem.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 12+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture with a progression from developer to enterprise architect.
• 8+ years of experience operating at the architecture level designing and shipping systems.
• 2+ years of experience building and shipping production AI applications using LLMs, agentic systems, RAG, MCP, and evaluation frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major foundation model provider and at least one agent framework.
• Proficiency in Python plus one additional production language such as TypeScript, Java, or Go.
• Strong system design fundamentals across distributed systems, APIs, cloud platforms, data pipelines, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Proven ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both engineering teams and senior leadership.
