Power Integrity Engineer
The Power Integrity Engineer joins the Hardware Technology Group to develop, implement, and verify power integrity solutions for compute and connectivity SoCs used in various mobile and wearable devices. This role involves defining power delivery network architectures, establishing off-die droop budgets, and designing end-to-end solutions across PMU, PCB, module, package, and die levels. The engineer performs modeling, simulation, and characterization of voltage regulators and components while conducting feasibility studies for silicon floorplans and advanced droop mitigation schemes. Key technical requirements include proficiency in Python, AI/ML assisted automation, and 2D/3D EM simulation tools. Candidates must apply knowledge of electromagnetic theory, transmission lines, and lab equipment like VNAs and real-time scopes to solve complex power delivery challenges, including digital to analog noise coupling analysis and ensuring high performance across diverse system specifications.
Define the power delivery network (PDN) architecture and design solutions for various system requirements.
Perform end-to-end simulation studies of die, package, and PCB components to meet impedance and voltage droop specifications.
Model, simulate, and characterize power delivery across die, package, module, board, and Voltage Regulator levels.
Conduct feasibility studies for silicon floorplans, advanced droop mitigation schemes, and voltage regulator tuning.
Perform model-to-hardware correlation on both individual components and full system levels.
Analyze digital to analog/RF noise coupling and manage voltage guard bands.
Provide technical implementation guidelines and actionable feedback to cross-functional hardware teams.
Verify power integrity performance and efficiency using advanced lab measurements and equipment.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree required.
M.S. or Ph.D. with academic background in Power/Signal Integrity, Power Electronics, Electromagnetics, Microwave, and/or Analog/RF Circuit Design (preferred).
Proficiency in Python coding and AI/ML assisted automation experience (preferred).
Experience in PI/SI methodology development, PDN modeling from system to die, and lab correlation/validation (preferred).
Experience in design and analysis of product power supply solution (preferred).
Understanding of power supply architecture including voltage regulator technologies, PCB/package design trends, and chip supply design (preferred).
Deep understanding of Voltage Regulator design principles and electrical performance in system environments (preferred).
Knowledge of 3D/2D EM simulation tools, electromagnetic theory, lab equipment, and noise coupling analysis (preferred).
