TL;DR · Photonics/ AR Process Integration Engineer

The Photonics/ AR Process Integration Engineer joins the Photonics Platform Business Group to develop and optimize nanotechnology process flows on various substrates. This role focuses on ensuring the performance, yield, and reliability of novel photonics devices, specifically including Augmented Reality displays. Day-to-day responsibilities involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to define integration strategies, conducting hardware characterization, troubleshooting engineering issues, and creating technical documentation like standard operating procedures. The candidate will utilize skills in lithography, etch, deposition, CMP, and metrology while performing statistical data analysis using tools such as Design of Experiments, SPC, and JMP. They must also be able to interpret GDS and OASIS layout files. This role addresses the critical challenge of transitioning advanced technologies from research and development into high-volume manufacturing environments for semiconductor and display applications.

What you'll do

  • Develop and optimize nanotechnology process flows to ensure product performance, yield, and reliability.
  • Conduct characterization studies to identify and troubleshoot issues related to process flow and quality.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data sets to improve manufacturing efficiency and process performance.
  • Design and generate simple test macro layouts for production.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including process flows, specifications, and standard operating procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle times and enhance overall manufacturing capabilities.
  • Manage the seamless transfer of technology from R&D stages to high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians.

What we're looking for

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • A Ph.D. in a relevant field is preferred.
  • 8+ years of work experience in process integration, preferably within an R&D high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of nanotechnology processes including lithography, etch, deposition, CMP, and metrology.
  • Proficiency in statistical data analysis and process optimization techniques such as Design of Experiments, SPC, and JMP.
  • Experience with process integration on devices such as semi, photonics, MEMS, sensors, or quantum is required.
  • Ability to read layout files (GDS and OASIS) and knowledge of optical proximity correction methodologies are a plus.
  • Knowledge of optics principles, photonic components, and semiconductor manufacturing standards like ISO, SEMI, and ITAR regulations are desirable.
