As a Network Design Engineer within the engineering team, you will support the design, development, integration, and verification of secure, high-performance hardware subsystems for mission-critical defense systems. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to perform requirements analysis, schematic analysis, component selection, and PCB layout reviews while troubleshooting hardware issues. Your daily work involves FPGA development using HDL, simulation, synthesis, and timing analysis to support reconfigurable hardware solutions within cyber-resilient architectures. You will also focus on network hardware and physical-layer design involving Ethernet interfaces and high-speed digital connectivity. Key technical skills include proficiency in networking protocols like TCP/IP, UDP, and multicast, as well as hardware cybersecurity principles such as encryption, secure boot, and trusted platform architectures. You will implement network segmentation through VLANs and subnetting to ensure data isolation across various defense systems.
Develop, test, and integrate FPGA-focused hardware for mission-critical defense systems.
Perform HDL design, simulation, synthesis, timing analysis, and laboratory bring-up for FPGA components.
Conduct schematic analysis, component selection, and PCB design and layout reviews.
Design network hardware and physical layers including Ethernet interfaces and high-speed digital connectivity.
Implement network segmentation and data isolation using VLANs, subnetting, and access-control boundaries.
Apply hardware cybersecurity principles such as encryption, secure boot, and trusted platform architectures.
Conduct root-cause investigations and experimental testing to resolve hardware issues.
Participate in requirements analysis, technical reviews, and the development of engineering processes.
What we're looking for
U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with at least 2 years of experience, or a Master's degree with at least 6 months of experience.
Working knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principles, processes, and design tools.
Experience or coursework in FPGA/HDL development, digital hardware design, PCB design, networking hardware, telecommunications, or hardware cybersecurity.
Proficiency in networking protocols such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, UDP, ARP, switching, routing, and multicast.
Knowledge of hardware cybersecurity principles including encryption, secure boot, trusted platform architectures, and root of trust.
Ability to communicate technical issues clearly and work independently on complex problems.
