The Modem System Test Engineer - 6G/5G Data and Networking joins the Modem System Test team to validate end-to-end data features, protocols, and system performance for mobile, automotive, IoT, and broadband platforms. This role involves developing test strategies, defining performance indicators, and analyzing 3GPP specifications and carrier requirements to create robust validation scenarios. The engineer will perform log analysis, debugging, and root cause investigation across lab and field environments while supporting feature integration and certification. Key technical competencies include knowledge of wireline, Ethernet, and wireless data protocols like RLP, PPP, TCP/UDP, IPv4/IPv6, DHCP, DNS, NAT, 464XLAT, VLAN, and 802.11ac/ax/ad. Additionally, the role requires familiarity with SIP/SDP, RTP, IMS, and security concepts like IPSec, EAP, TLS, and WPA2. Candidates should possess skills in C, C++, Java, or Python for scripting on UNIX, Linux, or Windows platforms.
Develop and execute system-level test strategies, methodologies, and plans for data features and use cases.
Validate end-to-end functionality and system performance for modem networking and data protocol features.
Define key data performance indicators and evaluate system performance including CPU/NPU metrics.
Optimize system performance based on data from conducted, radiated, and live 6G/5G network testing.
Translate 3GPP specifications and carrier requirements into robust validation scenarios and test coverage.
Perform log analysis, debugging, and root cause investigation of failures in lab and field environments.
Support the integration, certification, and commercialization of global products across mobile, automotive, and IoT platforms.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Strong understanding of wireline, Ethernet, and wireless data protocols including RLP, PPP, TCP/UDP, IPv4/IPv6, DHCP, DNS, NAT, 464XLAT, VLAN, and 802.11ac/ax/ad.
Knowledge of IP telephony and multimedia protocols such as SIP/SDP, RTP, IMS, and network security concepts like IPSec, EAP, TLS, and WPA2.
Familiarity with software engineering fundamentals including data structures, embedded operating systems, object-oriented programming, and core algorithms.
Experience in air-interface performance analysis, TCP/IP analysis, packet tracing tools, protocol debugging, and system optimization.
Programming or scripting experience in C, C++, Java, Python, or shell scripting on UNIX/Linux/Windows platforms.
Knowledge of AI/ML concepts and their application to digital communications is a plus.
