As a Modem Systems Engineer within the Modem Technologies group, you will contribute to the evolution of mobile communication technologies including 5G NR and emerging fields like 6G, IoT, satellite-based networking, and vehicular communications. Your daily responsibilities involve high-level architecture studies, modem algorithm design and development, power efficient design, verification, and commercialization. To succeed in this role, you must possess strong analytical skills and a background in communication theory, signal processing, information theory, or channel coding. You will utilize programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and Matlab, along with machine learning libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Keras to build neural network models. The work focuses on solving complex problems in WWAN radio design and developing advanced wireless modem technologies for diverse applications including extended reality and agentic wireless devices.
Conduct high-level architecture studies for next-generation wireless technologies.
Design and develop modem algorithms for 5G NR and emerging 6G networks.
Apply machine learning models to WWAN radio design and optimization.
Develop power-efficient designs for mobile and IoT devices.
Perform verification and commercialization of new wireless communication technologies.
Write and maintain code using C/C++, Python, or Matlab.
Build neural network architectures using tools like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.
Solve complex problems involving signal processing, information theory, and channel coding.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Master's degree in EE, ECE, CS, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or other fields involving probability, machine learning, statistics, and linear algebra.
Academic project experience or up to 5 years of industry experience in areas like communication theory, signal processing, or machine learning (preferred).
Ability to program effectively in C/C++, Python, and/or Matlab using modern coding assistance tools (preferred).
Experience with key machine learning tools/libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras and neural network architectures (preferred).
Up to 4 years of Systems Engineering or related work experience (preferred).
Up to 2 years of experience working in a large matrixed organization (preferred).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with intellectual curiosity (preferred).
