JOB TITLE: Modem System Test Engineer – 6G/5G Air Interface
The Modem System Test Engineer joins the Modem System Test team to build next-generation wireless technologies, specifically focusing on 5G NR and emerging 6G systems. This role involves validating end-to-end system functionality across the cellular protocol stack, including PHY, MAC/RLC/PDCP, RRC, NAS, and TCP/IP. You will develop system-level test strategies, define key performance indicators, and perform root cause investigations for modem issues in lab and field environments. The position requires proficiency in Python and MATLAB, along with knowledge of signal processing, RF propagation, and 3GPP specifications. You will utilize protocol simulator call boxes and channel emulators to characterize air interface performance. The work involves translating carrier requirements into validation scenarios to ensure the successful commercialization of global modem products.
Validate end-to-end system functionality and performance across the cellular protocol stack.
Define modem key performance indicators and evaluate system performance using conducted, radiated, and live network testing.
Develop and execute system-level test strategies, methodologies, and test plans for modem features.
Translate 3GPP specifications and carrier requirements into robust validation scenarios and test coverage.
Perform log analysis, debugging, and root cause investigation of modem issues in lab and field environments.
Support feature integration, certification, and commercialization of global wireless products.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Strong understanding of digital and wireless communication systems, signal processing, and RF propagation (preferred).
Strong understanding of physical layer procedures such as signal detection, channel estimation, link adaptation, mmWave beam refinement, and massive MIMO (preferred).
Knowledge of 5G NR PHY, MAC, RLC, PDCP, and RRC protocols (preferred).
Knowledge of OFDMA, Wi-Fi, and LTE (preferred).
Knowledge of air interface performance analysis, characterization, and optimization (preferred).
Experience with test equipment such as protocol simulator call boxes and channel emulators for wireless product verification (preferred).
Programming skills in Python and MATLAB (preferred).
