Mechanical Technician – Level 2 or Level 3 As a Mechanical Technician – Level 2 or Level 3 within the Space Systems team, you will support mechanical engineers in the development, assembly, and integration of space vehicle mechanical and electro-mechanical components, assemblies, and systems. Your daily responsibilities include devising, fabricating, and assembling new or modified mechanical components while participating in the development of sub-system and system test methodologies. You will also assist with setting up and testing prototype and flight units under operational conditions. The role requires technical knowledge in manufacturing operations, mechanical assembly, and harnessing, alongside proficiency with hand tools, mechanical equipment, and precision measuring instruments. Candidates should be able to interpret drawings and process specifications. This work supports the development of satellite and payload capabilities for national security, military, and civil customers within the space sector.

What you'll do

Assist mechanical engineers in developing, assembling, and integrating spacecraft mechanical and electro-mechanical components.
Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components and assemblies.
Participate in the development of sub-system and system test methodologies.
Set up and test complete prototype units and sub-assemblies under operational conditions.
Perform manufacturing operations including mechanical assembly and harnessing with high attention to detail.
Utilize a variety of hand tools and mechanical equipment for assembly tasks.
Interpret technical drawings, process specifications, and work order instructions.
Use precision measuring instruments to ensure component accuracy.

What we're looking for

Must possess an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance at the time of application.
U.S. Citizenship is required for positions requiring government clearance.
Level 2 requires a high school diploma plus 2 years of additional education and/or related experience.
Level 3 requires a high school diploma plus 4 years of additional education and/or related experience.
Must be willing to work any shift and cover extended work weeks as required.
Must demonstrate technical knowledge in manufacturing operations, mechanical assembly, and harnessing with high attention to detail.
Must have hands-on knowledge and experience using various hand tools and mechanical equipment.
Preferred qualifications include an associate degree, clean room experience, and proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
