The Electronics Technician 3 joins the Amherst Systems team to support the development and production of simulation systems and electronic warfare technology. This role involves testing and troubleshooting RF products, including drawers, discrete components, and microelectronic parts, alongside digital circuit cards. The technician will diagnose malfunctions using schematics, wiring diagrams, and source control drawings while performing RF tuning on microelectronics under a microscope. Daily responsibilities include modifying avionics systems, maintaining test equipment, recording data in test systems, and writing or modifying test procedures. Required skills include proficiency with spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers, as well as manual dexterity for assembling small parts. The role requires the ability to interpret corrective actions and perform soldering and assembly processes within a production environment focused on solving complex electronic warfare challenges.
Test and troubleshoot RF products, discrete components, and microelectronic parts according to technical specifications.
Troubleshoot digital circuit cards using schematics, wiring diagrams, and source control drawings.
Perform RF tuning on microelectronics under a microscope with high precision.
Modify avionics systems based on technical publications or engineering drawings.
Maintain, calibrate, and repair test equipment as required.
Record data in collection systems and document all actions performed in official forms.
Write or modify test procedures to improve testing processes.
Perform assembly operations for electronic and mechanical subassemblies.
What we're looking for
U.S. citizenship is required.
High school diploma or GED with 4 years of relevant experience; or an associate’s degree in an electronic field plus 2 years of experience; or 2 years of U.S. military electronic schooling plus 2 years of experience.
Experience testing and troubleshooting RF and digital equipment.
Experience working with test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers.
Manual dexterity to handle and assemble small parts.
Hands-on use of drawings, wire lists, source control drawings, or test procedures (preferred).
Experience working with microelectronics and performing tuning under a microscope (preferred).
Experience with soldering, electronic assembly processes, and engineering teams (preferred).
