Mechanical Engineer Ground Support Equipment

What you'll do

• Design and manage ground support equipment (GSE) through full development and build cycles to support launch operations.
• Coordinate with launch personnel to identify operational requirements and develop hardware to meet those needs.
• Develop and approve technical specifications for performance, fabrication, acceptance testing, and maintenance.
• Manage external vendors and partners to ensure GSE meets specific design requirements and project timelines.
• Perform structural analysis using hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) to support engineering designs.
• Create and analyze complex 3D CAD models and drawings using Siemens NX and Femap.
• Establish technical documentation for maintenance, proofload requirements, and hardware modifications.
• Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions or hardware improvements.

What we're looking for

• Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or granted asylum/refugee status for export control compliance.
• Must have 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Must have 2+ years of experience in structural analysis including hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis.
• Must have 3+ years of experience with CAD Design of complex systems, including 3D modeling, drawings, and GD&T.
• Experience in the design of large weldments and mechanical systems is required.
• Experience with prototyping and implementation is required.
• A BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent (preferred).
• Experience working hands-on in mechanical engineering, troubleshooting, and improvement of mechanical equipment (preferred).
