JOB TITLE: Manager, System Engineering
L3Harris is seeking a Manager, System Engineering to establish and lead a new group supporting the Tactical Data Link product portfolio. This working managerial role requires performing technical tasks approximately 75% of the time while providing leadership and oversight to a team of 8–15 engineers. The manager will develop long-term product roadmaps, oversee customer-facing sustainment engineering, and translate operational needs into technical requirements. Key responsibilities include managing technical, schedule, and cost performance, as well as coordinating with Design and Development Engineering and Production to manage obsolescence and configuration changes. The role requires expertise in electronic communications, Tactical Data Link technologies, and systems engineering. Candidates must possess the skills to resolve field and depot issues while aligning product strategy with business objectives in a defense context.
Perform hands-on technical systems engineering tasks for approximately 75% of the work week.
Lead the technical direction and develop long-term product roadmaps for the Tactical Data Link portfolio.
Oversee customer-facing sustainment engineering, including troubleshooting, platform integration, and field issue resolution.
Translate customer feedback and operational needs into prioritized technical requirements and product improvements.
Manage technical, schedule, and cost performance for product strategy and lifecycle engineering efforts.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance oversight to a team of 8–15 engineers and technical personnel.
Coordinate with production and depot operations to manage obsolescence, configuration changes, and product transitions.
Maintain technical documentation including interface control documents and lifecycle support information.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's Degree with 9 years of systems engineering experience, Graduate Degree with 7 years, or 13 years of experience without a degree.
Active US Secret security clearance.
Comprehensive systems engineering experience with high-reliability electronic communications products, including Tactical Data Link (TDL) systems (preferred).
Experience developing technical product roadmaps and translating customer requirements into systems solutions within cost and schedule constraints (preferred).
