JOB TITLE: Manager Cyber Systems Engineering 1
The Manager Cyber Systems Engineering 1 joins the Northrop Grumman Mission Systems team to provide dual leadership in people management and technical performance. This role involves managing individual contributors, overseeing staffing, and mentoring team members while dedicating eighty percent of the time to technical performance on classified programs. Responsibilities include providing guidance on cyber requirements for Launch and Missile Defense systems, designing cyber systems architecture, and performing cyber-attack surface analysis. The candidate will utilize skills in systems engineering, Agile, and DevSecOps to ensure compliance with standards like CNSSI 1253 and DoD 8570. Key tools and methodologies include NIST 800-160, RMF assessment authorization, and Model-Based System Engineering using Cameo and IBM DOORs to solve complex cybersecurity problems within a digital engineering environment.
Manage a team of individual contributors by defining clear roles, providing performance feedback, and overseeing career development.
Perform technical cyber systems engineering for classified programs, accounting for at least 80% of daily work.
Provide technical guidance to ensure high-quality product deliveries and flight test events meet mission cyber requirements.
Ensure weapon system compliance with contractually obligated cybersecurity standards such as CNSSI 1253 and DoD 8570.
Propose and design cyber systems architecture changes with full traceability to requirements.
Conduct cyber-attack surface analysis of system designs to identify and mitigate potential risks.
Develop and document technical standard engineering processes and procedures as needed.
Collaborate with program management to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree with 5 years, Master’s degree with 3 years, or PhD with 2 years of experience in Systems, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
9 years of experience in cyber systems engineering related fields in lieu of a degree.
Possession of an active Secret clearance and the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance and Special Access.
U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
Experience leading multi-discipline engineering teams and proven leadership skills as a people and technical leader.
Direct experience utilizing NIST 800-160 system security engineer and/or the system development life cycle.
Direct experience in Systems Engineering activities including requirements decomposition, architecture, design, implementation, integration, test, and verification.
Direct experience supporting RMF assessment authorization artifacts development to satisfy NIST SP 800-37 requirements.
Ability to obtain within six months of hire an IASAE II certification (CISSP preferred) in accordance with DoDI 8570/8140.
