The Lead Testing Engineer joins the Advanced Technology Organization to lead the design, development, and integration of test software and hardware for aviation power equipment in R&D and production environments. This role involves developing modular, reusable test architectures, designing components and fixtures using AutoCAD Electrical, Altium, and Siemens NX, and creating test software using NI LabVIEW and TestStand. The engineer will collaborate with product design and manufacturing teams to ensure products are highly testable and transition efficiently into manufacturing. Day-to-day tasks include managing project milestones, performing root-cause analysis on test failures, and utilizing equipment such as thermal chambers, cDAQ/PXI systems, and oscilloscopes. The role focuses on the technical challenge of testing high voltage, high power electrical systems for military and commercial aircraft across land, sea, and air domains.
Design and develop modular test software using NI LabVIEW and TestStand for R&D and manufacturing environments.
Create test hardware components, fixtures, and adapters using AutoCAD Electrical, Altium, or Siemens NX.
Collaborate with product design teams to ensure products are highly testable and ready for production transition.
Manage project lifecycles by defining plans, tracking milestones, and conducting design and readiness reviews.
Author formal documentation including equipment design reports, verification plans, and operation procedures.
Perform root-cause analysis on test failures and execute corrective actions with stakeholders.
Integrate physical sensors and complex lab equipment like thermal chambers and data acquisition systems into test setups.
Automate manufacturing processes to improve production yields and reduce overall production time.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field from an accredited university or college.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering and/or test engineering role.
U.S. citizenship status is required.
Must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by export-control regulations.
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, or Computer Engineering (preferred).
Minimum of 2 years of experience using LabVIEW and TestStand (preferred).
Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting test, automation, and/or test system development to transition products from development to manufacturing (preferred).
Experience with large complex test equipment, physical sensors, and high voltage systems (preferred).
