As a Lead Software Engineer - Sr. Full Stack Java Engineer within the Consumer & Community Banking – Sales & Incentive Growth team, you will serve as a core technical contributor in an agile environment. You will design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions while ensuring production code is secure, high-quality, and reliable. Your daily work involves translating business needs into technical delivery plans, leading vendor evaluations, and driving communities of practice. You will utilize Java, JavaScript, or Python to build services with Spring Boot and deliver event-driven solutions using Kafka. The role requires practical cloud-native experience on Amazon Web Services, proficiency in CI/CD automation, and depth in disciplines like cloud, artificial intelligence, or machine learning to solve complex technical problems and improve operational stability.

What you'll do

Design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions to solve complex technical problems.
Write secure production code and perform code reviews, testing, and debugging for other engineers.
Automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve the operational stability of applications and systems.
Lead technical evaluations with external vendors and internal teams to assess architecture and enterprise alignment.
Drive the adoption of leading-edge technologies by leading and contributing to communities of practice.
Translate business requirements from stakeholders into technical solutions and actionable delivery plans.
Mentor and coach junior engineers through active pairing, feedback, and rigorous code reviews.

What we're looking for

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Proficiency across the Software Development Life Cycle, including design, build, test, deploy, and operate.
Advanced understanding of application resiliency and security practices in modern software delivery.
Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, or Python.
Experience building services using Spring Boot.
Experience designing and delivering event-driven solutions using Kafka.
Practical cloud-native experience delivering and operating production workloads on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery practices, including CI/CD.
Demonstrated depth in at least one technical discipline such as cloud, AI, machine learning, or mobile engineering.
Experience leading a small team of engineers while remaining hands-on in delivery (preferred).
Demonstrated mentoring and coaching of junior engineers through feedback, pairing, and code review (preferred).
Experience supporting development of machine learning models, including causal inference approaches (preferred).
Experience applying AI-assisted engineering techniques to accelerate delivery and improve quality (preferred).
Hands-on experience using Visual Studio Code for debugging web, cloud, and distributed applications (preferred).
