JOB TITLE: Lead Software Engineer - Senior Java Full Stack Developer As a Lead Software Engineer within the Consumer & Community Banking Technology team, you will serve as a core technical contributor in an agile environment. You are responsible for designing, developing, and troubleshooting secure, high-quality production code while leading communities of practice to drive the adoption of leading-edge technologies. Your daily work involves building scalable, resilient systems, conducting vendor evaluations, and analyzing large datasets to improve coding hygiene and system architecture. You will utilize Java, Python, JavaScript (Node.js), PHP, or C# alongside tools like Docker, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. The role requires expertise in CI/CD, RESTful APIs, and cloud platforms like AWS or Azure. You will solve complex problems involving email infrastructure, API security, and financial services IT systems.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain secure, high-quality production code using Java or Python.
  • Design and develop scalable, resilient systems that meet specific architectural constraints.
  • Review and debug code written by other team members to ensure quality and stability.
  • Lead evaluation sessions with vendors and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical credentials.
  • Identify and automate the remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify patterns and drive improvements in coding hygiene and system architecture.
  • Lead communities of practice to drive the adoption of new and leading-edge technologies.
  • Produce and contribute to architecture and design artifacts for complex software applications.

What we're looking for

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, specifically Java, Python, JavaScript (Node.js), PHP, or C#.
  • Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Proficiency in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle and agile methodologies including CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
  • Practical cloud native experience with platforms like AWS or Azure for deployment and monitoring.
  • Proven experience with the Twilio stack (Sendgrid, Engage), Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and general RESTful APIs.
  • Knowledge of email infrastructure, deliverability best practices, and compliance regulations like GDPR and CAN-SPAM.
  • Familiarity with modern front-end technologies (preferred).
